A B&B Weekend

Mike and I recently spent a great weekend at the St. Croix River Inn, in Osceola, WI and loved our stay! He actually didn’t know where we were going until we pulled up to the inn!
We were greeted by Andrew, the Innkeeper, who gave us a brief tour and showed us to our room.
The Stillwater Suite was beautiful!
We loved these chocolates that were waiting for us!
That tub though! It was unlike any jacuzzi-type tub I’ve ever been in. It was like getting a water massage!
We had a private deck, with a fabulous view of the St. Croix River. Imagine that view in the fall with the changing colors of the trees!
There is a Keurig for people like my husband that can drink coffee at any hour of the day, and also an honor bar with wine, champagne, etc.
There is a wine and cheese tasting every Friday and Saturday night at 5 PM, and snacks (pretzels, homemade cookies and bars, etc.) are left out too!
Friday night we drove up to Taylors Falls and ate at Tangled up in Blue, an “eclectic and unique food and wine bar”.
They have limited hours and the menu is always subject to change an any given night, but the food was great!
Mike had pecan-crusted walleye, risotto and veggies. He thought it was really good!
I had a nightly special that wasn’t on the menu, Scallops St. John, which was scallops on top of mashed potatoes, with a butter/white wine sauce, baked to perfection. It even came with some snow crab legs and veggies. It was amazing!
For dessert, we had to try the Bananas Foster, which they flamed tableside. Neither of us had ever had it before, and it was heavenly….WOW!
I definitely had my fill of butter during that meal – haha!
The next morning, there was a knock at the door with coffee, tea, and warm banana bread.
And then 1/2 hour later, our gourmet breakfast arrived. The quiche had all sorts of yummy things in it….wild rice, cheese, spinach….seriously so good!
Saturday we drove to Eichten’s Market and Bistro in Center City, MN, which specializes in bison and cheese. Mike had a bison burger and really liked it, and I had a turkey pesto ciabatta sandwich which was also really good.
Before we left, Mike had to challenge the bison out front to a staring contest :)
We then checked out Franconia Sculpture Park in Shafer, MN. It was interesting ;)
The weather was SO nice for this time of year that we walked down to see some falls that are just down the road from the Inn.
The climb back up was a lot harder than coming down!
Sunday morning we were again brought coffee/tea and these ah-mazing cranberry white chocolate chip biscuits. I could live on those.
Breakfast was banana chocolate chip pancakes, sausage and yogurt with berries and granola. All good once again!
It was hard to leave, but we highly recommend St. Croix River Inn and we will be back again – hopefully soon!
