Lemon Sugar Scrub
April 28, 2013 | Filled under DIY, Recipe |
I think I can officially declare that Spring has sprung in Minnesota! Took a lot longer to get here this year! :)
That means capris and shorts are also just around the corner!
Time to get rid of those dry “winter legs”!
This is an AMAZING exfoliating scrub that is a cinch to make and works like a charm!
Here is what you need:
Sugar
Coconut Oil (I think this works the best, but you could use olive oil instead)
Lemon
Measure out 2 1/2 cups of sugar into a large bowl. Melt 1/4 cup of coconut oil in another bowl (takes about 45 seconds), and combine with the sugar.
Zest an entire lemon. Then cut the lemon in half and add the juice to the sugar mixture.
That’s it! Just use about 1 Tablespoon in the shower, rinsing thoroughly.
Printable recipe below!
- 2½ cups sugar
- ¼ cup coconut oil
- 1 lemon
- Measure sugar into a large bowl.
- Melt coconut oil in separate bowl and combine with sugar.
- Zest 1 lemon, then cut lemon in half and juice both halves.
- Store in air-tight container.
- Use 1 Tablespoon or so in the shower to gently exfoliate and moisturize.

Oh cool! I’m sure it smells awesome, too!
(found you through Titicrafty)
Yes! It smells amazing!!
I thought Spring had finally sprung here too, yesterday it was 70 and everyone was in shorts. Today we’re back to winter coats. Phooey.
I’m visiting today from the Raising Imperfection hop. :)
Looks awesome! How long does it last? Does it go bad? It seems like it would make a bunch.
Several weeks, if you use it almost every day. I don’t know how long it would take for it to go bad…it never lasts that long! :)
So glad you all are getting some warmer weather! This scrub looks good enough to eat!
Thank you for linking to Raising Imperfection.
Please come back Friday to see if you were featured. :)

Awesome! Thanks so much!!
It is snowing today in Alberta…makes Minnesota seem kinda tropical!!
Pinning for when my winter legs can be exposed….like, July!!
Stopping by from Serendipity & Spice!
I bet my legs would smell so good and feel amazing after using this! I would love for you to come link up to my party and follow along! http://alivedinhome.blogspot.com/2013/04/get-social-sunday_28.html
I had to check this out just because it is lemon. I think I even have coconut oil. I came over from Sweet Share Monday.
I can’t wait for spring! Unfortunately we just got snow last night! I love making my own scrubs but haven’t tried any with coconut oil since I fell in love with it about 5 months ago! I’ll have to try this!
Hey there from We Three Crabs Blog hop! Might seem silly, but how do you zest a lemon? I really want to try this out! My face could use some exfoliation, LOL
Hi! I have a microplane grater that I use…but even a cheese grater would work. You just want to get the yellow part, not the white part under the yellow part, because that is bitter. Hope that makes sense! :)
Yes, totally! Thanks for the tip about the yellow and white parts! Off to make it right now :-)
I love making homemade scrubs for gifts. I’ll have to try this one. Thanks for sharing!
This sounds great! I feel like I can smell the lemon by just looking at the picture:) I can’t wait to try this!
This sounds amazing. (AND, i have all those ingredients at my house already!) I just might have to whip some of this up and pamper myself a little after my workout later… It’s leg day and I’m already dreading it. Maybe this will motivate me through those squats/lunges/etc! :)
Happy Wednesday.
I can’t wait to look around your blog more.
Thanks for linking up at Pinterest Tuesday. I so want to try this! sounds delightful.
