Had to pin this list!
I am on the coconut oil thing. I use it in my coffee every morning – it is yummy. I made scones and home made chicken nuggets with it too. Tasted great. It is in my hair right now! :)
Love it! Wow – in your coffee? I would have never thought of that! Thanks for sharing! :)
Recently, someone in our subdivision posted a question on Facebook asking where to buy coconut oil, which started a brief discussion about its benefits. I had no clue about coconut oil. Looks like I need to try it out. I’ll be pinning it!
I was blown away when I first started reading about the health benefits! Look for it at Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, etc. or else this is a great place to order it online: http://www.tropicaltraditions.com/
Krysta :)
We love coconut oil around here and use it for everything. I polished up my shoes with it the other day–just stay away from dogs if you do this, they like to lick the coconut oil.
Oh my…our dog already has a shoe fetish, lol! He’d be all over our shoes. Funny! Thanks for sharing! :)
i absolutely LOVE coconut oil! I use it to make my own detangler spray and make up remover as well as on all my kids eczema. Found you through Delightful Order’s Link Party.
Thanks for sharing! I’ve also heard it is great for eczema.
How do you make a conditioner out of it?
Hi Bobbie! One way to do it is to shampoo your hair and towel dry it. Start with about a quarter-size amount of coconut oil in your palm and rub your hands together, which will melt it. Then just run your fingers through your hair. You’ll want to let it sit (some people use a shower cap or you could pile your hair on top of your head) for 30-60 minutes. Just rinse/wash your hair to remove the oil!
I’ve been meaning to pick some up. I want to use it for make up removal. I have eczema, so traditional make up removers really dry my skin up and make my face itch! I didn’t realize you could use it for so many different things. Use it in your coffee! Oh, my!
It works great as an eye makeup remover. I have been using it for a couple of weeks now. I have the cosmetic formula from NOW bought at my local health food store.
I just bought some of this for a recipe (which turned out to be a flop) and was wondering what I could do with the rest of it. Thanks for the tips! Especially for the scars.
Bummer the recipe was a flop but yay that it doesn’t have to go to waste! :)
Nice list! I use it for some of these purposes and also one you didn’t list: Greasing baking pans! It’s excellent because it stays where you put it (unlike liquid oils), doesn’t burn if it is exposed above the batter (unlike butter), and tastes great! The only downside is that some people who are allergic to nuts are also allergic to coconut…so if you are baking for guests or an event, be alert to possible allergies.
Great idea Becca – thanks for your comment! Good point about the allergies. Have a great weekend! :)
I use it as a moisturizer and as a hair conditioning treatment-but these other uses are awesome! Esp the diaper rash-will try it for that!

I got a jar of coconut oil at GNC and I use it on my 2 year old as a moisturizer after a bath. I heard it helps with chicken skin and it has! It’s gone from her thighs and much smoother on the back of her arms.
I’m getting so curious… I keep hearing such good things about it.
I love coconut oil! I cook with it and rub it into my wooden utensils.

I love coconut oil!! Thanks for linking up to Monday Funday! xoxo – Cheryl @ That’s What Che Said
I use it for a moisturizer on my face. I am allergic to just about every other moisturizer out there and live in a very dry climate so coconut oil has been a life saver. If you get a chance I would love for you to come share this over at my Pin Party.

Very informative thanks
I read that it works to kill the bacteria that causes dandruff…so double bonus!
I have read that too! That is awesome!!
You should definitely try it as a replacement for butter/margarine in Rice Krispie treats – lol! They are so much lighter tasting when made with coconut oil !!!!

Thanks–I have yet to try coconut oil, looks like I must give it a try. Thanks again.
eat it as a delicious alzheimer’s preventing treat ( i love to make chocolate balls: mix virgin coconut oil with raw cocoa nibs – freshly ground in our old coffee mill – grated almonds, agave sirup and a few drops of organic vanilla extract, make little balls of this “dough”, let them set for a couple of hours and enjoy). the alzheimer issue is described in dr. mary newport’s blog http://coconutketones.blogspot.com and book
I’m a new follower from F-It Fri. We use coconut oil to make our own deodorant! I’ll be blogging about it soon & reviewing Tropical Traditions coconut oil @ kleinhauschaos.blogspot.com
We love coconut oil at our house – thanks for sharing and linking up over at Finding the Pretty & Delicious Linky Party!http://www.yourhomebasedmom.com/finding-the-pretty-delicious-linky-party/
What an awesome list. I love making ‘raw’ treats and adding it…like, chopping almonds, dates, oatmeal, peanut butter, honey, coconut oil together – rolling into balls. MM good! Congrats on being featured at Mop it up Monday.
How do you use coconut oil as a shaving cream? My daughter breaks out with practically everything & I’m just about at my wits end trying to figure out something that she can use long-term.
Just rub it on, one leg at a time. You may need to apply it twice if it soaks in fast, especially the first few times of using it. It is also great for moisturizing after a shower!
Oh I love this!! Just now getting into coconut oil – thanks for sharing!! :)
Two of the way I love it is to spread on hot toast, or scramble my eggs in melted coconut oil, the eggs absorb the oil and eggs are so tasty! Love it!
