Hello! How was your Thanksgiving? Did you go out shopping on Black Friday or did you stay in? I’ve never gone out shopping after Thanksgiving…I think all the crowds would give me hives! :)
Our Thanksgiving was very nice! We changed things up this year and did brunch instead of dinner. Everyone seemed to enjoy it, so I think it will be the new tradition!
I thought I would share some of the photos from our delicious meal and the days that followed!
We were at my parents for brunch. They have a huge table that can fit us all. Didn’t my mom set a pretty fall table?
We had mimosas (the kids had orange juice/Sprite) and they were yummy!
All of the recipes we had for the meal were ones we had never had before. I love trying new recipes, and I blame my mom for that (just kidding, mom)! That must be why my recipe boards on Pinterest have more pins than my other boards!
We had Scandinavian Fruit Soup, which is a cold soup made with dried fruit. It looks like chili or something in the picture, but it was a nice sweet start to the meal!
I made Monkey Bread, which the kids had never had before – it was a hit!
Egg Bake with Pancetta and Gruyere
Baked Pumpkin French Toast
Puffed Pear Pancake
The whole meal was SO good! We laughed at how cinnamon and carb heavy it was though! Next year – less bread and more fresh fruit! :)
After the meal we played games and my husband and kids went in the hot tub. They were in there a long time and looked like little prunes when they got out!
It started sleeting and then snowing while we were there. By the time we got home we had a nice little covering of snow in our front yard!
The day after Thanksgiving my husband had to work, so I took the boys to a movie. We saw Wreck It Ralph. It was cute! The theater was packed though and we ended up in the second row. It had been a long time since I had seen a movie in the theater, so it was a nice treat and a fun mother/son “date”!
Over the weekend we started decorating the house and went to get our Christmas Tree. I love real Christmas trees! Our house smells so good right now!
I will share the rest of my Christmas decorations another day. What did you do for Thanksgiving? Did you host or go to someone else’s house? What did you eat?
