Fall Decorating and an Easy Tutorial
|November 10, 2012||Filled under Life|
Today I thought I would share some of the ways I decorate for the fall. Some of you are probably starting to put up Christmas decorations, but not me! :)
I have definitely cut back on how many decorations I put up. Less is more in my book these days!
Here is our piano. I got that leaf runner at Kohl’s a few years ago and love it!
I keep these glass containers filled through just about every season with something. For the fall, I put in pumpkins and leaves. I also love the fall “weeping willow” tree in the back. I can’t remember where I got that though!
Ok, I guess I love pumpkins!
This is our current fall wreath, but I have a bunch of ideas on Pinterest so one of these days I hope to make something new!
So, here’s where my quick and easy tutorial comes in! I made that ribbon garland a couple of years ago, but see those candles on the mantel? The ribbons don’t match anymore! I switch the ribbons out for the season as well. It only takes a few minutes, but it add a bit of interest. Here is how I do that!
Previous colors – not very fall-like and totally doesn’t match the ribbon garland.
I went through my assortment of ribbons to narrow it down a bit. I get most of my ribbons at Michael’s or Target. Target sometimes has them in the dollar bins, so they are cheap!
I try to mix different widths and textures. Here are the 3 colors I decided on:
Cut the old ribbon off (be careful not to damage the candle – speaking from experience here!):
And just tie the new ribbon around the middle and cut off any excess ribbon! Now my little candles are ready for fall!
Do you do anything special to make candles less “plain”?
