I named this post the Ultimate Cleaning Post, because I thought I’d talk about how I clean my house without using any toxic chemicals! I get a lot of questions about whether I really ONLY use natural products to clean everything in my houe and the answer is YES! :)
I no longer buy Lysol, Clorox, Pine Sol, etc. and never will again! I have only used Shaklee Get Clean products for about 3 years now. When most people think about green cleaners, they think: expensive or they don’t work. With Get Clean, nothing could be farther from the truth! They are CHEAP and they WORK!!!
Let me tell you what I use and how I use it!
KITCHEN
Let’s start with the kitchen, because it seems like most of us spend a lot of time in there! We run our dishwasher almost every day and try to cook 99% of our meals at home, so it seems like the kitchen is always the messiest room in the house!
In the kitchen I use:
Basic H2 Organic Super Cleaning Concentrate and my microfiber cleaning cloth for the counter, cabinets, appliances, etc.
Scour Off Heavy Duty Cleaning Paste for my sink and my appliance deep cleaning. Click HERE to see how I clean my kitchen sink!
Basic G Concentrated Germicide for disinfecting my sink, counters, knobs, floors and whatever else I want germ free!
Dish Wash Concentrate for washing anything by hand. I only need to use a couple of DROPS in a sink full of water. This stuff is really powerful!!
Dish Wash Automatic Concentrate for my dishwasher. I only use 1 teaspoon of this stuff and really don’t pre-rinse at all, so it lasts a long time. CHEAP!
This isn’t my oven, but it could be! My before pictures actually look worse, lol!
With our white sink, it looks dingy very easily. Here are before and after pictures of our kitchen sink!
BATHROOM
Next, let’s talk about the grossest room of the house and my least favorite to clean. :) I use Basic H2 Organic Super Cleaning Concentrate for the windows and mirrors.
This stuff works, with NO STREAKS!!! I mix 1 drop of the concentrate in my 16 oz. spray bottle. It costs me 1 CENT to make. Super CHEAP!!!!
In fact, 1 bottle of Basic H2 equals the cleaning uses of 5,824 bottles of 26 oz. Windex. Hello?!?
Here is a picture of the awesome window and mirror microfiber cleaning cloth that I use.
Here is a picture of the mirror in my kids’ bathroom. No streaks!!
Basic G Concentrated Germicide for the sink, toilet, floors and tub/shower.
I really like to disinfect! I live with 3 boys and a dog. Need I say more? :)
Scour Off Heavy Duty Paste for the tub/shower, floor and sink when needed.
This stuff takes off rust, mold, hard water residue and other build up.
Plus, it smells like cherries! And is totally safe!
FLOORS
With having a dog that sheds, we need to vacuum a lot!! A Dyson is a must have for us. I actually bought ours on eBay and it as a refurbished one. You would never be able to tell! It looked brand new and we have never had a problem with it…plus we saved a bunch of money!
For washing the floors I use (what else?) Basic H2 Organic Super Clean Concentrate!
This awesome no rinse, no residue, streak-free formula works great on any floor! For floors, mix 1 tablespoon of Basic H2 with 1 gallon of water. Apply to the floor with a sponge or mop. For sealed hardwood floors, I suggest putting it in a spray bottle. Just spray it on the floors and wipe with a microfiber cloth or mop.
DUSTING
Oh how I loathe dusting! My husband is allergic to dust, so this one is ALL me!! I usually just dampen my super microfiber cleaning cloth with the Basic H2 all-purpose formula. Works great for vents, fans, light fixtures, etc.
Have I showed you my awesome microfiber cleaning cloth? I love that I can wash it and re-use it over and over!
Here is a great way to dust fans, actually. Use a pillowcase (I just spray some of my all-purpose spray inside the pillowcase) and put each fan blade inside the pillowcase and wipe. Then just throw the pillowcase in the laundry!
LAUNDRY
I try to throw in at least 1 load of laundry a day. I hate how overwhelming it can get when a few days are skipped, so I try to keep on top of it. All of my laundry products are concentrated and non-toxic. They are safe for your skin and great for sensitive baby skin!
I use:
Fresh Laundry Concentrate (liquid or powder)
or
Nature Bright Laundry Booster and Stain Remover
So that is what I use and how I use it! :)
The kits, such as the Get Clean Starter Kit, are the best bang for your buck!

Thanks for sharing! I too hate using those harsh chemical cleaners. I’m going to have to look into this line of products. I’ve pinned this. Thank you!
I don’t use harsh chemicals (or many chemicals for that matter!)
Thank you :) I have recently begun my love affair with micro fiber cleaning cloths. Great tips.
Some fab tips – a must Pin :-)
I have noticed that my allergies are seeming to get worse so Imma have to take serious look at these products.
Allergies are the worst! :(
I know my headaches are so much better now that I have removed the toxins from the cleaning products and also started supplementing. Good luck!!
Good for you. I’m trying to eliminate as many chemicals from my home as possible as well. There are some really good alternatives these days and all hail microfibre :-)
Awesome post! I’m with Margaret too. My baby has lots of allergies so I am trying to find something “green” myself. Thanks so much for sharing this with us @ The SHOW OFF Weekend Blog Party :)
