So this might not be the healthiest of recipes, but they were oh-so-good!! Everybody loved them and they were a cinch to make – SCORE!
15 Minute Homemade Doughnuts
1 tube biscuits (I used “Simply Biscuits” from Pillsbury because don’t have a bunch of scary ingredients in them)
Cinnamon/Sugar mix (or whatever else you want to coat them with!)
Heat oil (about 1 inch deep) in large skillet over medium-high heat. Open biscuits and pat them down a bit, then use a small round cookie cutter, shot glass, etc. to cut out the middles (I used the cover to my son’s water bottle since it was the perfect size!).
Carefully add the doughnuts/holes (about half the batch) to the oil, turn when bottoms are golden brown, about 1-2 minutes. Fry on the other side another 1-2 minutes until golden brown.
Remove from oil onto paper towel and let cool until able to handle, then dip each side in melted butter and coat in cinnamon/sugar mixture.
There are so many different toppings you could do!
- Add pumpkin pie spice to cinnamon/sugar mixture for the fall
- Dip doughnuts in a glaze (1/2 cup whole milk, 2 cups confectioners’ sugar, 1 tsp. vanilla)
- Add orange zest to cinnamon/sugar
- Powdered sugar
What is your favorite kind of doughnut? Have you ever made them at home?
