Has there ever been something you KNOW you needed to do, but were scared to do? For me, it is trying to go gluten-free!
Just a little background…I have been dealing with chronic daily headaches and migraines for over 2 1/2 years. The only times I don’t have a headache of some kind is when I’m sleeping. Well, I’m not aware of it while I’m sleeping at least! It takes it’s toll on me, that’s for sure. Most days I deal with it, because life goes on and I have to…but some days I shed tears wondering if I will ever function “normally” again.
I have tried acupuncture, chiropractic adjustments, cutting out caffeine, wearing a nightguard when I sleep, had 2 sleep studies, worn a CPAP, tried lots of medication (that make me feel like a zombie), meditation, physical therapy…and the list goes on. I also have been tested for celiac disease, but the test came back negative. I have thought many times about going gluten-free anyways, just to see if I still maybe have a gluten sensitivity, but the whole process seems SO overwhelming.
Recently, I had some encouragement from some some gals who completely eliminated their migraines after going gluten-free. It gave me the push I need to really give this a go.
There is so much information out there, so where do I start? I found this post, which had some great info on how to start: How to go Gluten-Free.
This blog is also great, because it gives specific examples of what I might be able to eat: Getting Started Gluten-Free.
I’ll be honest, I am super nervous about this, because I can be a bit weird about flavor and texture of food. I have this idea in my head that I’ll have to eat the same 5 things day in and day out. Plus, what about the rest of my family. Do we all go gluten-free?
So, I would love to hear your advice. What are your gluten-fee resources and experiences? I need to feel the love people! :)
